Give it to Ronaldo: Corriere dello Sport call for 2013 Ballon d’Or to go to Cristiano

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport have come out with a blunt headline on Monday morning: “Ronaldo is better than Messi.” They then include an editorial that argues giving the 2013 Ballon d’Or to Cristiano Ronaldo rather than Lionel Messi, who has dominated the individual award in recent years. The editorial in Corriere dello Sport suggests Ronaldo is currently “flying” whilst at the moment Messi is “in crisis.”
Corriere dello Sport go on to say that Ronaldo’s real rival for the 2013 Ballon d’Or is really Franck Ribery, following his excellent personal season in Bayern Munich’s treble winning side. They write: “The number one rival for the Portuguese forward is Franck Ribery, the most talented player at Bayern last season. Ribery, however, faced a fall from grace with France in Kiev, while Ronaldo received further support with the first leg victory over Ibrahimovic.”
There is little doubting that Ronaldo has started off in exceptional form this season, scoring 26 goals in 19 games. 16 in La Liga (1 every 73 minutes), 8 in the Champions League and 2 for Portugal. More pressure on Blatter oooooo, at least we all know there is sentiment and favor in the award now.

Question of the Day: Can Neymar step in for Messi???

Neymar has hit the ground running for Barcelona since his blockbuster move from Santos in the summer, showing the talent and ability that made him one of the most sought after players in recent years. Blaugrana boss Tata Martino had always insisted that they would be patient with their new signing and slowly integrate him into life at the Camp Nou.
However, it seems that the honeymoon period will end earlier than anticipated after news broke that club talisman Lionel Messi will be ruled out of action for up to two months with a hamstring injury. This leaves the Catalan giants in somewhat of a conundrum with no immediate backup to the Argentine, as no one can fill in at the much vaunted false nine role as effectively as Messi. More than likely, Cesc Fabregas will be asked to fill in but with the false nine’s effect likely to be diminished, the onus will be on the likes of Neymar to perform in Messi’s absence. The good news for Barcelona supporters though, is that the Brazilian looks ready to step up a gear and fill the void left by his team-mate. He has scored four goals and made six assists. Can he make the Messi impact???

Wenger expects Christano Ronaldo to win Ballon D' Or

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hailed Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo and believes the Portuguese has edged ahead of his Barcelona rival Lionel Messi in the last year. Ronaldo has started the season in blistering form with 24 goals in all competitions, 10 more than the Argentina, who was recently ruled out for up to two months with a leg muscle injury. The pair are the leading contenders to be crowned Fifa Ballon d’Or Player of the Year - which Messi has claimed for the past four years - but the Gunners boss has hinted he expects Ronaldo to win for the second time. When asked for his opinion on the pair during a Twitter Q&A session, Wenger said: "It’s difficult, Messi was on top until now but in the last year, maybe Ronaldo is in front, he is very athletic." Hmmmmmm, has Messi's recent injuries made everybody desert him???

                      Samsung have recruited Lionel Messi as their captain. For the past few weeks Samsung have been running a global marketing campaign which claims that aliens will take over planet earth if they win a game of football. Continuing that campaign on Monday, the global technology company have released a brand new video featuring Lionel Messi in a scene befitting a multi-billion dollar action movie. Messi, cloaked in a hoody, is forced to escape the attentions of group of black tinted cars and motorbikes, with the Argentinian star eventually getting a helping hand from Franz Beckenbauer. Messi injured again

Lionel Messi survived just 20 minutes of Barcelona’s 4-1 win away at Real Betis on Sunday night as the Argentinean superstar was subbed early on with a thigh injury. Messi was withdrawn after Betis’ José Caro cut across the Catalan forward with his boot. Messi was instantly hurt, and within minutes he was replaced by Andres Iniesta. Messi is now facing his fourth injury of the season, and many are saying the striker’s body can’t keep up with the current schedule. Cesc Fabregas said as much telling reporters that Messi ”should take good care of himself and not rush his recovery.” Messi suffered a quadriceps problem in pre-season, while the Flea was also unavailable with injury at the start of the season against Malaga. Messi was then absent for several weeks after he collected a hamstring problem against Almeria. The Argentine star will undergo various medical tests on MOnday to determine the extent of his latest injury. Messi has only scored half of the goals CR7 has scored in the league this season. Wish him early recovery.

MORE JIBES FOR CHRISTANO RONALDO

Portuguese super stay Christano Ronaldo who was recently mocked by Mr Sepp Blatter has been hit by another jibe from a friend and former team mate Kaka who said in an interview that he prefers the Brazilian Ronaldo to CR7. If you ask me most Catalans or ex will not say that about Messi even if it is true. It is probably becoming glaring that the Portuguese must be a proud man and that might account for the reasons why Messi frequently gets more votes than him, if you ask me, sympathy votes..... 

MESSI: GOAL DROUGHT DUE TO MY FITNESS

Lionel Messi has attributed is goal drought to his level of fitness. The Argentine said he isn't 100% fit at the moment. This is actually Messi's worst run since March 2011 going four games straight without a goal. Am certain that the goal scoring form of CR7 will be giving Messi and his fans some bitter sleep. Get on board boy, your fans are waiting to see you score.

DROUGHT: MESSI STILL GOALESS

Pressure is mounting on Lionel Messi to live up to is known standard. He looked off the pace from the start and just didn't seem to be totally up for the game, whether it be mental or physical. Frustration lead  him trying to hard to do things himself but eventually succumbed to his fourth consecutive match without a goal. Is he really tired like Stocoichkov suggested. Its for sure not an happy time for him considering that Christano Ronaldo is firing goals from all angles. For Barca fans you can understand why your team can get all the goals now. Barca struggling, Messi tired, Neymar and Sanchez contributing there little goals. If it continues like this expect Barca to drop points soon. Barcelona beat Espanyol 1-0 yesterday night.

JOKER: INZAGHI SAYS CR7 AND MESSI CAN'T BETTER IS RECORD

Former AC Milan striker and legend Filipo Inzaghi expressed is views about is goal scoring records especially in year 2007. Read what he said -  Carlo Ancelotti was uncertain whether or not to play me or Alberto Gilardino in the Athens final, but I played and scored twice, then I scored in the Super Cup final win over Sevilla and another two against Boca Juniors. Five goals in three finals, which were three of the most important finals and we won all of them. Not even Messi or Ronaldo will achieve that. It's a record I will hang on to. This must be a real big joke.

Former Barcelona star Hristo Stoichkov has voiced his concerns over Messi's fitness following the Argentine's recent dip in form. The 26-year-old has been struggling to find his best form ever since returning from injury and has not found the net in his last three Liga games, including Tuesday's 3-0 win over Celta. I also think he is tired because is work rate has been low. What do you think???

SEPP BLATTER PREFERS MESSI TO CR7

The 76yrs old Fifa president in simple words described CR7 as a commander in field and one who spends more time at the hairdresser' shop while he described Messi as a good lad which every parent would like as a son. He also said Messi is very fast,good,not exuberant and a very good boy.
