According to both the Sunday Times and Sun on Sunday, Wayne Rooney is on the verge of signing a new whopping deal with Manchester United.
The front page of the Sun screams “Rooney signed for life – Wayne pens new deal at United”, while the Sunday Times headline their report saying “Wayne Rooney to stay at Manchester United until 2018 in £70.2 million deal”.
The article in the Sunday Times – who take their lead from the red-top – continues as follows:
The new contract agreed by the 28-year-old is the biggest in the history of the Premier League and will result in the striker receiving a weekly wage of £300,000.
Rooney had 18 months left on his existing contract, which pays him £250,000 a week, but will now stay at the club until he is 33.
However, the arrival of Juan Mata from Chelsea for £37.1 million lifted spirits and may have played a part in persuading Rooney to stay as the former Everton manager attempts to restore the club to its former glory. The new deal agreed by Rooney suggests he trusts Moyes to do just that.
Should the rumour prove accurate, the new deal agreed by Rooney is the biggest in the history of the Premier League.
