BIG QUESTION: Who Will Be Real Madrid's No. 1

The departure of Diego López has not yet been officially announced, but is believed to be imminent. All the same, Real Madrid's problem in goal is not much nearer a solution. Last season the rivalry between the posts was between López and Casillas. From now on Ancelotti will still have to make a difficult choice, but it will be between Casillas and a new alternative in Keylor Navas.

Counting in the Costa Rican international keeper, Real Madrid will once again have two top-class goalkeepers and the club is not keen on having another season of uncertainty in the goalmouth. The Real board's preference would be to hand the position to Casillas. Even though he was not at his best during the World Cup, Casillas still has hopes of being the number 1 this season, although he realises that with the arrival of Navas he'll have to be at his best to get to play.

As was confirmed some days ago by Ancelotti himself, Iker will start in the European Super Cup against Sevilla on 12th August. Casillas will also be Ancelotti's top option to open the season with even though Navas will be a contender.

So, a star in the recent World Cup and a Real Madrid legend. Who will end up as first choice? Only the club and time will tell.
