ARSENAL: Gunners In For Remy & Welbeck As Injury Rules Out Olivier Giroud For Three Months

He may not be every Arsenal fans favourite player, but all Gunners supporters will be gutted to hear that striker Olivier Giroud has been ruled out for three months with a broken foot on Tuesday. Giroud picked up his injury in the final moments of Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at Everton last weekend, and following rumours of the Frenchman’s suspected injury on Monday night, leading French daily L’Equipe have confirmed the worse fears this morning.

Just one day before the vital Champions League match against Besiktas at the Emirates, Giroud has been rendered unavailable for at least 12 weeks. L’Equipe call the injury “serious”.

With less than a week left in the transfer window, Giroud’s setback has left Arsene Wenger in a bind, as the Gunners now need to recruit a forward against the sands of time.

In that regard, QPR striker Loic Remy is being tabled as a possible option, despite the fact that the striker failed a medical with Liverpool earlier in the window.

Another option is Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck, after news filtered out of Old Trafford in the last few days that the England attacker is surplus to requirements for Louis van Gaal.

Other names placed on Arsenal’s viewfinder are PSG striker Edinson Cavani (highly unlikely to happen) and Monaco’s Radamel Falcao {also a target for Juventus).

Whether Giroud’s injury may also see Lukas Podolski stay in North London remains to be seen
