Arsenal Can Reach UEFA Champions League Final This Season - Mesut Ozil

Arsenal attacker Mesut Ozil said he believes his team can reach the UEFA Champions League final this season. Arsene Wenger's side qualified for the competition for a 17th straight campaign with a 1-0 aggregate win over Besiktas on Wednesday. Despite Arsenal failing to get past the round of 16 in the past four editions, Ozil feels they are capable of reaching the decider. The Germany international, 25, said belief needed to be high, with Arsenal drawing Borussia Dortmund, Galatasaray and Anderlecht in Group D.

"We've strengthened our squad. We also want to show that we can play better in the Champions League," Ozil told The Telegraph.

ARSENAL: Gunners In For Remy & Welbeck As Injury Rules Out Olivier Giroud For Three Months

He may not be every Arsenal fans favourite player, but all Gunners supporters will be gutted to hear that striker Olivier Giroud has been ruled out for three months with a broken foot on Tuesday. Giroud picked up his injury in the final moments of Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at Everton last weekend, and following rumours of the Frenchman’s suspected injury on Monday night, leading French daily L’Equipe have confirmed the worse fears this morning.

Just one day before the vital Champions League match against Besiktas at the Emirates, Giroud has been rendered unavailable for at least 12 weeks. L’Equipe call the injury “serious”.

ARSENAL: Wenger Hints On More Signings After Arteta Blow

Arsene Wenger is open to further signings at Arsenal after captain Mikel Arteta sustained an ankle injury in midweek. Arteta was forced out of Arsenal's UEFA Champions League play-off first leg at Besiktas on Tuesday and will miss this weekend's trip to his former club Everton.

No time frame has yet been put on a return for the Spanish midfielder, but Wenger is prepared to dip into the transfer market before the September 1 deadline should his skipper be ruled out for a significant period.

"If it's a long-term injury [for Arteta] that puts us in a position where we have to be creative," the Frenchman said on Thursday.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PLAY OFF PREVIEW: Besiktas vs Arsenal

Arsenal will attempt to continue their perfect start to the season in the Champions League qualifying play-off against Besiktas.

Arsene Wenger's side, buoyed by a busy transfer window that included the eye-catching acquisition of Alexis Sanchez, impressed with a 3-0 Community Shield win over Manchester City and were then required to grind out a result when beginning their Premier League campaign with a last-ditch 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The aim now is to secure their progression to the group phase of Europe's premier competition with the minimum of fuss.

Micheal Eneramo Wanted Desperately In Tunisia


Tunisian giants Esperance are wooing Nigerian player Michael Eneramo in order to sign him in this transfer window.

The player who now plays for the Turkish side Besiktas hinted that he wants to get back again to the Tunisian League.

Turkish media revealed that the player maybe axed by his team to sign another player.
