The coach's road to Madrid is more or less a straightforward one and shouldn't suffer any unexpected last-minute changes given the fact that negotiations are at an advanced stage, although there are still a few things that Benítez and Florentino Pérez have to straighten out before the agreement is made official. As is customary, Benitez will sign his new contract in the Bernabéu offices just before he is unveiled.
Despite confirming he's leaving Napoli, Benítez so far has refused to comment on his next destination. Similarly, Florentino spoke cryptically about Carlo Ancelotti's replacement after announcing the Italian's exit on Monday, but it is an open secret that the former Valencia, Liverpool, Inter and Chelsea boss will occupy the Bernabéu dugout next term.
Benítez is a workaholic and is eager to get his feet under the table as soon as possible in order to start planning for next season. Besides analysing his squad, he has to start thinking ahead to pre-season, with Real Madrid off on tour to Australia and China at the beginning of July.
