Melo Extends Galatasaray Stay, Snubs Inter Interest

Reported Inter target Felipe Melo has seemingly committed his future to Galatasaray by signing a new contract.

Galatasaray midfielder Felipe Melo has agreed a new three-year deal with the Super Lig giants, having been heavily linked with Italian side Inter.

Former Gala boss Roberto Mancini had been credited with an interest in the experienced Brazilian ahead of the Serie A season.

Flamini Closing In On Galatasaray Switch

Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini is closing in on a move to Galatasaray according to Medya Haber. The Turkish media outlet reports that a fee has been agreed between the two clubs on a deal to bring the 31 year old midfielder to Istanbul with the Frenchman set to complete a medical in the next 48 hours.

Mathieu Flamini rejoined the Gunners from AC Milan in 2013, but has struggled for playing time in recent months starting just 15 premier league games last season due in part to the impressive form of fellow countryman Francis Coquelin.

Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike was unable to achieve his target of scoring in the fierce Istanbul derby against Galatasary on Monday night but that nonetheless, the Nigeria forward is happy with his club’s 3-2 victory in the Turkish Super Cup. Emenike was yellow carded in the 58th minute of what many concluded was a derby below-par and even missed a glorious opportunity to seal victory for his team late in the second half.

After failing to break the deadlock, the Super Cup which serves as the curtain raiser for Turkish Super Lig spilled into extra time and then into penalty kicks in which Emenike was not amongst the takers.

Drogba Returns To Chelsea On A One Year Deal

Chelsea have completed the signing of Didier Drogba on a one-year contract. The 36-year-old returns to Stamford Bridge having left in 2012 after winning the Champions League.

Drogba, who featured for Cote d'Ivoire at the World Cup earlier this summer, has scored 157 goals in 341 appearances for Chelsea and has also won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two League Cups with the club.

"It was an easy decision,” the striker told the club’s official website.

Mario Balotelli would be treated like a “king” at Galatasaray if he made the move to Turkey from Italy, according to sporting director Tomas Ujfalusi.

David Moyes Sighted In Turkey Amidst Galatasaray Talks

Eurosport Turkey report David Moyes is in Istanbul amid reports he could become the next Galatasaray manager.

Moyes was sacked after less than a year in charge of Manchester United, and has been out of work since Easter. Many experts suggested the Scot, who has also been in charge at Preston North End and Everton, would be better off making his next job overseas after his torrid time at Old Trafford.

Roberto Mancini, formerly of Manchester City, was last in charge of Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray but parted company with the club earlier this month despite guiding them to the Champions League last16.

Roberto Mancini has left Galatasaray after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
The 49-year-old was appointed Fatih Terim's successor back in October and signed a three-year-deal upon his arrival in Istanbul.

But, while Mancini lifted the Turkish Cup in his first season in charge, he was unable to stop rivals Fenerbahce from winning the Super Lig title, while Gala exited the Champions League at the hands of Chelsea in the round of 16.

A statement on the club's official website read:"By Mr. Mancini's request and by mutual agreement, the contract was terminated.

Drogba Set To Leave Galatasaray

With Galatasaray's season now over, Didier Drogba has announced his intention to leave the Turkish club when his contract expires this summer.

The 36-year-old moved from Shanghai Shenhua in January 2013 and helped the side to the Super Lig title the Turkish Super Cup the same year. Speaking to the club's official TV channel, the former Chelsea icon issued a heartfelt goodbye.

"Galatasaray will always be in my heart, I'm very proud to have represented this team.
"I didn't come here for money. If I wanted money I would have stayed in China. I came to Turkey to play football, to feel the passion again. Scoring against Fenerbahce and Besiktas, I think I gave some happiness to our fans."

John Obi Mikel Set For Chelsea Exit

Fresh reports from London have claimed John Obi Mikel wants to leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

The report is coming only days after his agent denied the player is interested in moves away from Stamford Bridge. A report in the Daily Mail said that the Nigeria star, 26, wants to leave because he has found first-team opportunities restricted since manager Jose Mourinho’s return last summer.

The January arrival of Nemanja Matic, an important addition in a holding role, has further limited Mikel’s chances. But he still has three years on his contract and the Blues would demand a hefty fee.

Roberto Mancini labelled Galatasaray's showing in their 2-0 Champions League last-16 defeat at Chelsea on Tuesday as "very, very bad".

After drawing the first leg 1-1 in Turkey, the Istanbul club knew they had to score at least once to have any chance of progressing to the quarter-finals, but they put in a limp display at Stamford Bridge.

Even striker Didier Drogba, the subject of much of the talk in the build-up ahead of his return to his former club, failed to cause any problems for the home defence as first-half goals from Samuel Eto'o and Gary Cahill saw Chelsea through 3-1 on aggregate.

Once again, Chelsea are threatening to be the last English club standing in Europe. Former Chelsea great Didier Drogba does not know how he will react when he returns to Stamford Bridge with his Galatasaray team on Tuesday for their Champions League last-16 second leg, the Ivorian striker said.

Drogba won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups and, most memorably, the 2012 Champions League when his penalty in the shootout clinched victory for the Londoners against Bayern Munich in the final at the Allianz Arena.

Roberto Mancini says he and Jose Mourinho are not close and claimed that the Chelsea manager does not even like having friends.

The Italian stoked the flames ahead of Galatasaray's Champions League first-leg tie with Chelsea last month by saying that he built the Inter team that won the treble under Mourinho in 2009-10.

But the former Manchester City boss insisted that they were fair comments and that Mourinho took them to heart as Chelsea and Mancini's Galatasaray prepare to clash again in the return game at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday with the last-16 tie finely balanced at 1-1.
