Obinna Obiefule was on target twice as Hibernians defeated Naxxar Lions FC 3-0 in a BOV Premier League game played at the Hibernians Stadium, Paola on Saturday afternoon. The younger brother of former Super Eagles midfielder, Paul Obiefule justified his inclusion in the starting lineup by scoring two well taken goals in the last 10 minutes of the encounter to cage their dogged visitors.
He headed home his side’s first in the 79th minutes before making a mince meat of two Naxxar Lions defenders to get his second of the day in the 90th minute.
“These goals meant a lot to me. It ensured my team emerged victorious and aside from this, it also helped to increase my goal tally to stay in contention for the golden boot award,” he told Goal.
Obinna who also got a brace in his team’s last match against Floriana attributed his goal scoring form to his manager Branko Nisevic.
“It all boils down to my manager because he has been giving me lots of confidence and making me believe I can score against every team.”
Hibernians are third on the Maltese Premier League table with 47 points from 22 matches and will travel to Mosta FC in their next outing.
With this, Obinna Obiefule now has 11 goals from 15 starts for the peacocks.
