Real Madrid Is 112 Years Old Today

Today, 6th March, marks Real Madrid's birthday and Carlo Ancelotti's side has every reason to be in the celebration mood. Happy Birthday to every Madrista......

Top of the league table, 'Los Blancos' are also in the Spanish Cup final and have all but booked a place in the Champions League quarter-finals, meaning they are frontrunners to win the longed-for 'Décima' and are even targeting the first treble in the club's 112-year history.

That's right: some 112 years have been and gone since the Padrós brothers Juan and Carlos founded Madrid Foot-Ball Club on 6th March 1902. These 112 years have been paved with unparalleled success and glory, including 32 league titles and nine Champions League trophies.

Not for nothing was Real Madrid named FIFA's Club of the 20th Century.

Ancelotti's men have a very real chance of adding to the club's legend this campaign. They sit top of the pile in 'La Liga', having mounted a spectacular revival to turn a six-point deficit into a one-point lead.

They have also achieved the unprecedented feat of reaching the cup final without conceding a single goal, and last week they decimated Schalke 6-1 away in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
