He’s been delivering the goals for club and country and now Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be the face many postmen will see in his homeland.
The Paris Saint-Germain talisman has his own set of five official postage stamps released by the Swedish Postal Service (Posten).
Plans for the stamps were first announced in November last year, but are only now available to buy in Sweden. Sold for around £6 a set, the stamp collection features photos of the 32-year-old in action for his country – with three of the images taken from Sweden’s 4-2 win against England in November 2012.
‘It’s a great honour,’ Ibrahimovic said via a statement after the stamps were first announced by Posten last year. ‘Personally, I get a lot of bills and they rarely have any nice stamps. Maybe that will change now.’
The Ibrastamps have proven a hit already in Scandinavia with Posten’s head of stamps Britt-Inger Hahne stating that they have already sold five million in advance.
Hot demand: Available for around £6 a set, Posten revealed they have sold over five million stamps in advance
Speaking to TT News Agency she said: ‘We have sold five million stamps in advance and that is a lot.’
‘The French are particularly interested. One customer ordered 1,500 packages for his French friends,’ she continued. ‘Zlatan has a unique position on the pitch, among his fans and now also on the stamps.’
