After three Barcelona defeats on the spin, it’s no surprise to see spurious reports linking Lionel Messi with a move from Barcelona.
El Confidencial, a Spanish paper with less than a glowing record of printing accurate transfer news, have published an article claiming that Manchester City are PSG are patiently waiting on the sidelines ready to pounce on Lionel Messi should the opportunity arise.
Messi has been called out for several poor performances as Barcelona have lost to Atletico Madrid, Granada, Real Madrid in their last three outings, and Man City and PSG are waiting in the wings to offer the Catalans €250m for the Argentine if the opportunity presents itself.
El Confidencial claim that “Manchester City remain the most interested party looking at the fate of Leo Messi. The club of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan has a higher economic potential [than Barcelona]… Signing Messi remains a dream [for City].”
As for PSG, the Parisians are also said “to be on the lookout” over Messi, however the most likely scenario seems to be that the Argentine will sign on at the Camp Noy rather than jump ship.
El Mundo Deportivo have reported that Barcelona have opened contract talks with their superstar striker with Messi set to become to best paid player in world football. For the record, Messi’s current deal with Barca expires in 2018
