NEMBE 0 BAYELSA 2: Coach Richard Bubagha Proud Of Derby Win

Bayelsa United head coach Richard Bubagha was on cloud nine after his charges handed him his first away win of the season.

The Restoration Boys won the Bayelsa derby 2-0 at Nembe City in the Glo Premier League Match Day 6 tie on Sunday at the Krisdera Hotel Stadium, Omoku. A second-half brace by central forward Edimobowei Peter handed his side the maximum points in the hotly contested duel.

An elated Bubagha said his charges were clearly the better side and deserved to win the crunch encounter.

“I feel happy with the derby win and the fact that it’s our first away win of the season makes the victory more exciting.

“It’s not easy to pick up away points. I give part of the credit to the referee who gave both sides room to express themselves. Officiating in the game was 50/50 and it made it easy for the better side to win.

“I give kudos to my players, they played very well and strictly to instruction, I can’t just express how I feel with this result, I’m simply overwhelmed with joy.

“I give credit too to Nembe City, they fought hard to win the game but met a determined and resolute side not ready to compromise the three points at the stake,” said Bubagha to supersport.com.

Bubagha said Nembe City have prepared his wards for the Caf Confederation Cup playoff challenge at the Ivorian side Sewe Sport at the weekend in Abidjan.

“Nembe City have actually toughened my wards for the African battle against Sewe Sport of Ivory Coast at the weekend, the victory is a strong indication of good thing to come from the game against the Ivorian side.

“There is a rescheduled game on Wednesday against Enyimba which I doubt whether it will be held due to our scheduled trip to Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The Enyimba tie would’ve further hardened us to confront Sewe Sport but I think we’re ready to give the Nigerians a good outing in the game,” said Bubagha.

The first fixture of the two-legged playoff will be held at the weekend in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, while the reverse fixture holds in a week’s time in Nigeria at the Sapele Township Stadium.

Bayelsa United have raked in 11 points from possible 18 in the six-week old Nigeria topflight.
