All the experts agree that this season Real Madrid have managed to put together a formidable team, with a squad that leaves little to be desired. It is widely believed that this is one of the best groups of players in the club's history, one that is capable of leaving an indelible mark.
There are several reasons for believing this could be the beginning of something really special - a team capable of winning it all. Ancelotti's starting line-up against Sevilla amounted to nothing less than €440 million on one pitch. Not since the era of Real Madrid's fabled 'galácticos', when the team boasted no less than four winners of the Ballon d'Or, has a coach had so much talent at his disposal.
Ancelotti has what is arguably the most well-balanced squad a manager could ask for, with every position filled by players of exceptional quality, starting with Keylor in goal and including super-subs such as Isco.
On top of that, Kroos has surprised many by how quickly he has managed to adapt and fit into his midfield role. With not a word of Spanish to speak of and having only trained with the rest of the team for one week,
Toni Kroos had become the driving force in midfield. Far from being a newbie, it seemed he had been playing for Real Madrid for a decade.
The team is also solid as a rock at the back, with Pepe and Ramos holding the fort. Tried and tested throughout last season, in Cardiff the pair showed once again that they are a hard act to beat. In addition, Coentrao is tireless in defence and Carvajal gives the team added options in attack, bringing a healthy balance to the side.
Real Madrid aren't planning to make any more new signings as Ancelotti already has all the bases covered. If there are any new faces, it will merely be a case of fine-tuning to an otherwise perfectly functioning football machine.
