Chelsea: Club Physio Eva Carneiro Has Been Axed From The Bench By Mourinho

There has only been one game of the season, but already dark clouds are hovering over Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea opened their campaign to retain the Premier League title by dropping two points in a home draw with Swansea.

At the end of the match, Jose Mourinho was furious on the touchline, as club physio, and fans’ favourite, Eva Carneiro removed Eden Hazard from the field after a knock. That decision left Chelsea with only eight outfield players in the final stages of the game.

After the match, Mourinho then threw Eva Carneiro under the bus when he said: “If you’re a physio or kit man, you must understand the game”.

Carneiro has since thanked her fans for support on her Facebook page, but the Telegraph are now reporting that the feud isn’t over.

Instead, Carneiro has reported been axed from Chelsea’s bench in what appears to be a permanent decision. Moreover, the doctor “will not attend training sessions, games or enter the hotel.”

You only have to remember how changing a doctor blew up Bayern Munich’s season last year, to consider the implications of this internal Chelsea shake-up.

The Telegraph also note that Carneiro will remain “Chelsea’s first-team doctor… [but] it remains to be seen whether Carneiro will accept her new lower-profile role long term”.
