Former Brazil ace Juninho Pernambucano has slammed national team boss Dunga for dropping Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva.
Dunga announced his squad for September's friendlies against Costa Rica and USA on Thursday and the decision to omit former Selecao skipper Thiago Silva was the subject of much debate.
The former AC Milan centre-half was heavily criticised for his performances and perceived lack of leadership skills during last summer's ultimately shocking World Cup campaign on home soil and, after missing the start of the 2014-15 campaign through injury, lost his place in the Brazil starting line-up.
Thiago Silva ultimately forced his way back into the team but, despite starting three of the Selecao's four matches at this year's Copa America, he has now been axed once again.
Juninho is astonished by the centre-half's treatment, accusing Dunga, who was made a scapegoat for Brazil's disappointing showing at the 1990 World Cup, of failing to learn from the past.
"Thigao Silva is and will continue to be our best current defender," the legendary set-piece specialist wrote on Twitter.
"It seems that Dunga has forgotten 1990. He was presented as the culprit then and yet today, it is he who is designating the blame."
Brazil were castigated back home after being eliminated in the second round of Italia '90 by great rivals Argentina.
However, both Dunga and the Selecao recovered, with the midfielder skippering his country to World Cup glory in the United States four years later.
