The comparism was done by mcfc.com a site that belons to the Manchester club. The club tried to favour their own but the statistics still put Ighalo ahead.
So how do City and Watford’s main forwards measure up in the Premier League this campaign?
Obviously the stats are difficult to compare precisely because Kun has played seven games less than the Hornets’ in-form Nigerian, but the figures make interesting reading nonetheless...
Minutes played:
With just 805 minutes played so far, Aguero has played almost 50% less than Ighalo who has 1591 minutes under his belt – Kun will hope to bolster his total in the coming weeks after an injury-plagued few months.
Goals:
Again, Kun trails Ighalo in this category with the Watford striker on 14 and Kun on seven – it will be interesting to see if that gap closes in the second half of the campaign.
Aguero
Minutes per goal:
It’s neck and neck in this category with Sergio slightly behind – one minute, in fact! Kun is averaging 115 minutes per goal so far with Ighalo on 114 – which roughly equates that you will get a goal every from either striker every 1.3 games.
Shooting accuracy:
A stat every striker prides themselves on and this time Ighalo and Sergio can’t be separated with 59% of both players’ shots hitting the target. Ighalo, with 26%, converts more of the chances that come his way than Sergio – so far – who is on 22%.
Sergio Aguero
Total passes:
As you’d expect with seven more games, Ighalo leads the race with 372 to Kun’s 196 – again, expect the gap to close as the season progresses.
Pass completion:
Aguero’s finds a team-mate with 90% of his passes compared to Ighalo’s 74% - a potentially crucial edge for Kun given many of a striker's passes are in or around the opposition box.
Other stats…
Neither player have created too many chances for their team-mates, but as that’s not really what they’re on the pitch to do, it’s hardly surprising. Sergio has created seven chances for others, with one converted and Ighalo has made 18 opportunities for team-mates with just two resulting in goals.
Who will finish top in this meeting remains to be seen, but if either striker has a major influence on the match, chances are their team will take the points, such is the influence both men have when they’re at their very best.
