Watford have issued a statement insisting that Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo is not for sale “under any circumstances” as the transfer window opens today.
Watford are eighth on the EPL table thanks largely to the 14 goals scored by Ighalo on their return to the English top-flight league.
Ighalo has been linked with a transfer to La Liga side Atletico Madrid as well as Italian club Roma with Atletico reportedly willing to fork out 12 million pounds for the 26-year-old striker.
Before the start of the season, the Nigeria star also turned down “a crazy deal” from China.
Watford skipper Troy Deeney has already said Ighalo’s goals will guarantee the modest club a windfall of 200 million pounds should they stay up in the EPL as a new television revenue sharing formula kicks in next season.
