I'm Not Completely Fit - Osaze Odemwingie

Stoke City forward, Osaze Odemwingie, says he is still months away from full fitness. The Nigerian endured a torrid time last season following a knee ligament injury which forced him out of action for eight months.

He made his long awaited comeback towards the end of the last season and has also featured in pre- season games for the Potters ahead of the season.

He however said he still requires time to pick up match fitness.

Mark Hughes Hails Hot Osaze

Stoke City manager, Mark Hughes is delighted with the impact made by Nigerian striker, Peter Odemwingie. Odemwingie has scored five league goals for Stoke since joining from Cardiff City in January.

His latest strike was recorded in the 62nd minute on Saturday as the Potters beat Hull City 1-0 at the Britannia Stadium on match day 32 of the 2013/14 Barclays English Premier League season. It left Hughes in positive spirits and he took the time to praise his Nigerian acquisition whose form in front of goal has left many an eyebrow raised.

"We're pleased with what he's producing. He's obviously come in and he wasn't a risk really because he's an accomplished Premier League player who has scored goals at this level so we know what we were getting,” Hughes said at the post match press conference.

Peter Odemwingie scored the only goal of the game as Stoke edged a sleepy encounter with Hull at the Britannia.

Having both netted for the Potters in the 4-1 win at Aston Villa last week, Odemwingie and Peter Crouch led the line here for Mark Hughes' team. For the away side, former Newcastle United veteran Steve Harper took over in goal from the injured Allan McGregor.

The hosts just about shaded a fairly mundane first half, although it was Tom Huddlestone who came closest to opening the scoring, bringing a fine save from Asmir Begovic with an effort from range.

Osaze And Uche Can Still Make World Cup Says Keshi

Nigeria head coach Stephen Keshi has declared that the duo of Peter Odemwingie and Ikechukwu Uche can still make his squad for the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

Keshi made it clear that Odemwingie and Uche "have equal chances of making the team" based on their discipline and work rate.

He added that the two strikers will have to prove they deserve to be in Nigeria's World Cup squad through their performance and attitude.

Peter Odemwingie got a goal for Stoke City as they hammered hosts Aston Villa 4-1 in the English Premiership game staged at the Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

The former Cardiff forward’s goal in the 22nd minute stirred a comeback win for Mark Hughes’ men after they had gone a goal down in fifth minute of the five-goal thriller.

Aston Villa still basking in the euphoria of their 1-0 defeat of Chelsea last week got the lead on the early minute when Christain Benteke slotted home from a cross from Fabian Delph but Odemwingie leveled scores for the visitors 17 minutes later.

Super Eagles outcast Peter Odemwingie was on target twice for Stoke City as they spanked West Ham United 3-1 in the English Premiership on Saturday afternoon.

The former Cardiff forward scored in each half to hand Mark Hughes' men their second win in three games in the highly entertaining encounter played at the Britannia Stadium.

An acrobatic effort from Peter Crouch deflected off Odemwingie to put the home side level in the 32nd minute after Andy Caroll had put the visitors ahead in the fifth minute.

Keshi Says World Cup Dream Is Still Possible For Osaze Odemwingie

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has said the door to the world Cup is open for Osaze Odemwingie, but insisted on a talk with the striker. Keshi and Odemwingie were involved in a highly publicised row during which the Stoke City striker took to social media Twitter to blast the Eagles handler after he was sensationally left out of a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations training camp in Portugal.

A bitter Osaze will go on to say he has quit international football, but later rescinded the decision.

“Keshi has said the door is still open for Osaze, but he will need to talk with the player before he could recall him to his team,” a top official said.

Osaze Odemwingie Scores First Goal For Stoke City

Nigeria’s Peter Odemwingie was on target for Stoke City as they played out a 2-2 away with Southampton on Saturday afternoon at St Mary’s Stadium.

The striker who made a winning start for the Potters in their 2-1 defeat of Manchester United in their last outing got his side's first goal in the 38th minute after Rickie Lambert had put the hosts ahead in the 6th minute of the encounter. Odemwingie made an intelligent run off the right flank and Adam finds him with an outstanding through pass and shot past onrushing Boruc.

Osaze Set To Correct Wrongs

Nigerian striker, Peter Odemwingie insists he’s learnt his lessons after hogging the headlines for all the wrong reasons just over a year ago. The Super Eagles striker will always be remembered as the player who turned up at QPR to complete a transfer from West Brom, unaware talks between the two clubs had already broken down.

To general amusement and bewilderment, Odemwingie had to go back to The Hawthorns in a bid to repair his relationship with the Baggies. The former Bendel Insurance man did go on to make another seven appearances but it was clear Odemwingie had no future at the Midlands club prompting a summer move to Cardiff City. He was on the move again in January as he sealed a move to Stoke City but the 32-year-old said he never wanted to repeat the same mistakes he made a year earlier.

Osaze Odemwingie Set To Join Stoke Today

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes said on Sunday that he expects to sign Peter Odemwingie on loan from Cardiff City on Monday, with Kenwyne Jones moving in the opposite direction.

Nigeria international Odemwingie, 32, joined Cardiff from West Bromwich Albion last September, but he has had to play second fiddle to Fraizer Campbell during his time in the Welsh capital.

Stoke City Agree Terms For Osaze

Nigeria striker Peter Odemwingie looks to be on the move again in the Premier League as Stoke City have revealed that they have reached an agreement with Cardiff City for the former West Bromwich Albion striker.

Odemwingie, who has endured a tough 12 months in England left West Bromwich Albion under cloudy circumstances this summer after his much documented clash with the West Bromwich management because of his actions during the 2012/2013 winter transfer window.

His stay in the Welsh capital hasn't exactly being a success too and it now looks like he will be heading to the Britannia Stadium before the end of the transfer window.

Osaze Set For Stoke Swap Deal

Nigeria striker Osaze Odemwingie is set to end his uncertain future at Cardiff City with a swap move to Stoke City.  In the summer, 32-year-old Osaze signed a three-year contract worth about 2.5 million Naira after a troubled time at West Bromwich Albion

It is now believed the Nigeria international could be part of a swap deal that would see Stoke striker Kenwyne Jones move in the opposite direction, according to The Mirror.

He has featured in 15 matches and scored in two goals for the Welsh club.

STEPHEN KESHI: No one can force Osaze on me

Head coach of the Nigeria national team, Stephen Keshi has dropped the strongest possible hint that Cardiff City striker, Peter Odemwingie will not make his final squad for the 2014 Fifa World Cup just because he’s wanted by the majority of the fans.

Odemwnigie has not played for Nigeria since February 29, 2012 when the Super Eagles were held to an underwhelming 0-0 draw against Rawanda at the Stade Régional de Nyamirambo in a 2013 Africa Nations Cup qualifying game.

The 32-year-old has since expressed his desire to return to the national team in time for the 2014 Fifa World Cup finals in Brazil.

“I was in the Nigeria squad for the last World Cup finals in South Africa and I would love the chance to go again,” Odemwingie told WalesOnline in November.
