GOLDEN BOOT: Victor Osimhen Wins CAF U17 Championship Highest Goal Scorer

Though the country’s cadet side ended their campaign on a dull note, the Eaglets’ striker has given something to cheer about after he was adjudged the top scorer

Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen emerged the highest goals scorer of the Niger 2015 African U17 Championship after his lone goal in the Golden Eaglets’ 1-3 loss to Guinea U17 in the third place match on Sunday evening took him to the top of the goals chart with four goals.
The Eaglets scored only seven goals during the championship with only two players accounting for all goals with Osimhen’s four goals adding up to the three netted by team captain Kelechi Nwakali.

Osimhen got his first goal in Niger in the opening game against the hosts and added a brace in the third game against Zambia before his solitary goal for the Eaglets in the loss to Guinea on Sunday.

The country finished the competition empty handed after the Eaglets placed fourth at the end of the championship but Caf still recognized the towering presence of Osimhen whose goals ratio has been impressive for the Eaglets even before the start of the championship held in Niger Republic.

Emmanuel Amuneke's team will come back home knowing that the squad is not yet finished material and that he should look inwardly to invite further new players irrespective of where they are based for him to get the best possible side for the country ahead of the Fifa U17 World Cup in Chile later in the year.
