Arsenal's flop Gervinho has been talking himself up after his two-goal display in the Coppa Italia semi-final. A source of mystery to Arsenal fans, the performances of Gervinho in Italy have made him a cult hero among the AS Roma followers. The Ivorian netted an impressive brace for the Giallorossi last night as he fired them to a 3-2 first leg semi-final victory in the Coppa Italia win clash with Napoli.
Speaking after the performance, he was not shy on confidence when speaking to reporters, making the outlandish claim he could be faster than the world's fastest man Usain Bolt.
On one condition however.
"I would beat him [Bolt] with the ball at my feet. Without the ball, he would be quicker.
""t was a great feeling to score the winner and celebrate with my team-mates and the fans," he told Rai Sport.
Despite this bold claim, the statistics show that Gervinho is not even the best ranked dribbler in Serie A. He ranks seventh, averaging 2.6 per game.
That's dramatically below Fiorentina's Juan Cuadrado, 4.2 per game. Of course there is no metric available to which measure speed, but if Gervinho really is the fastest dribbler on the planet, perhaps he should do it more often.
