Am Not Joining Manchester United - Gerard Pique

Gerard Pique has dismissed rumours of a possible return to Manchester United, stating that he would be happy to spend the remainder of his career with Barcelona.

The defender has been linked to a move away from the Catalan side after complaining that he has not been appreciated enough and has started just three of their seven La Liga games this season. Furthermore, he was left on the bench throughout the 3-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

However, the 27-year-old stopper was asked if he could return to Old Trafford in the near future, but he insists he is happy at Camp Nou and could play out the rest of his career there.

"I love this club for its history, its style of play and its connection to Catalunya," he said in an interview with FourFourTwo.

"I love it here. I am at the best club in the world right now. I have no intention of leaving now or later. I've just signed a new contract and I want to retire a Blaugrana, just like Puyol did.

"You never know what the future holds, but right now, I love this city, I love the people in the club, and most importantly, I love the institution. I don't see myself leaving."

The World Cup and European Champioships winner was then asked to compare current Barca team-mate Xavi with former Manchester United colleague Paul Scholes, but he believes it is impossible to say which one is better.

Pique said: "You cannot make me choose between them! You could say Xavi because of international titles, but the two of them are technically amazing."
