Man United Bid £100m Twice For Gareth Bale

The backpage of the Sun on Tuesday will be of interest to Manchester United fans, as the red-top announces that the Red Devils have made two £100m bids for Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale this summer.

As if it needed pointing out, Real Madrid rejected both alleged bids for the Welsh wizard, while the Sun claim Louis van Gaal is “desperate” to sign Bale.

Should the story prove true, Real will have turned down the opportunity to make a profit on the world’s most expensive footballer, after Los Blancos paid Tottenham 100 million euros for Bale two summers ago.

According to the Sun, Real president Florentino Perez was the man responsible for rejecting United’s bids, however the tabloid also stress that Bale himself “was not interested” in a possible switch from the Santiago Bernabeu to Old Trafford.

Injecting a bit of needle into the article, the Sun also note that “Real insiders” believe Man United “deliberately bombarded” the club with offers for Bale, in order to force the Spaniards to up their bid for David De Gea to £40m.

While Man United won’t land Bale anytime soon, the Red Devils are expected to sign Pedro from Barcelona imminently.
