Chelsea take on Arsenal on Sunday in the Community Shield, with Mourinho’s record of never losing against his opposite number always looming large. Geremi played for the Blues from 2003-2007 and won two Premier League titles under Mourinho.
“When big teams play each other, the players have motivation because it is an opportunity to show your capabilities. They say big games for big players so they want to make a difference,” Geremi told Goal during a recent trip to Lagos.
While Wenger has never defeated Mourinho – with five losses and eight draws in their head-to-head – Geremi tries hard not to say the obvious.
“I’m not going to say Mourinho is better than Arsene Wenger because I never worked with Wenger, but his results are clear,” he said.
“It’s not me who is saying this in order not to offend Wenger, but the results are showing that Mourinho is better than him because he’s won all their battles.”
