NPFL: Giwa FC Attacked By Robbers

The NPFLwill certainly need to beef up security around travelling teams. With robery attacks increasing among clubs the security system must rise up to its responsibilities.

Giwa FC were attacked by gun men on Monday evening in Enugu on their way to honour a Wednesday's Week 21 encounter against Abia Warriors.

The players of the Jos' Elephant were heading to Umuahia to keep a date with the coach Ladan Bosso's men before they were halted by the robbers who took away their valuables.

It will be recalled that league defending champions suffered the same fate in the incident that left Gambo Muhammed, Eneji Otekpa, Adamu Murtala, Reuben Ogbonnaya and Ubong Ekpai injured after they were attacked by armed robbers along Abaji-Lokoja Road in March

Giwa defeated Kwara United 1-0 on Sunday in a Nigeria Professional Football League Week 20 game, and are fourth on the log with 34 points while Abia Warriors are eighth with 30 points from 20 games.
