Man United: De Gea To Ignore Real Madrid, Set To Sign New Deal Worth £200k Per Week

There was a bit of collusion at play between the daily sports desks this evening, as all of the backpages run with the same story, and some even share the exact same headline.

After Jorge Mendes’ visit to Manchester United’s Carrington training ground on Thursday, the backpages all emphatically declare that David De Gea is now set to snub Real Madrid and sign a new deal at Manchester United worth £200,000 a week.

It’s an incredible volte-face from the Spanish keeper, who spent the entire summer clamouring for his dream move to Real Madrid.

But ever since the deal fell through on Transfer Deadline Day, there’s been a sea change, and it appears De Gea has has had a change of heart after the farcical way in which Madrid failed to sign him.

Having spent the first few games of the season watching from the bold corner (the VIP section), it looks like all is forgiven now and De Gea will be restored at the number 1 keeper once more.
