NPFL: Sunshine Stars Appoint Former Kwara United Coach Samson Unuanel

The air is now clear after there have been various names of managers linked to the Akure based club. Much was not said about Unuanel but the former Kwara United coach has been appointed after being sacked by Afonja warriors. Samson Unuanel will have a big task of qualifying the Akure club for CAF champions league after they missed out on the Confederation cup in the just concluded season.

Former Kwara United coach Samson Unuanel has been appointed the new coach of Nigeria premier league side Sunshine Stars.

According to the club's media officer, Wahab Bankole, the coach has sealed the deal.

NPFL: Sharks FC Joins Bayelsa, Taraba & Kwara United In Relegation

Prior to this match Sharks had 2 points ahead of Dolphins and Akwa united and was ranked 15th on the table with 46 points. Sharks would have escaped relegation with a draw but the unexpected happened. Sharks FC will have to play in the lower division.

Sharks have been relegated from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to the Nigeria National League (NNL) on the last day of the season.

Sharks have now joined Bayelsa United, Taraba and Kwara United to the NNL

NPFL: Which Team Will Join Bayelsa & Taraba For Relegation?


The battle for survival in the Nigeria league will be fiercer than the battle for the championship as two teams are set to join Taraba and Bayelsa United on relegation with Kwara United, Dolphins, Sharks, Lobi Stars and El Kanemi Warriors all in danger.

FC Taraba and Bayelsa United are already doomed for relegation to the Nigeria National League (NNL) with two rounds of games to the end of the season on November 15.

Both teams currently with 34 points from 36 games cannot tally more than 40 points with two games to go which won't be enough to save them from going down to the second-tier of Nigeria league.

NPFL: Kwara United Can Halt The Charge Of Sunshine FC - Coach Tunde Abdulrahman



Coach Tunde Abdulrahman has called on his Kwara United players to "halt the charge" of Kennedy Boboye’s Sunshine Stars.

Sunshine Stars in fourth, hold the narrow advantage having defeated the Ilorin outfit 1-0 in the first leg and Kwara United coach Abdulrahman is hoping to blunt Boboye's charges on Saturday.

“We cannot afford to lose any more points especially at home though we are working on our results on the road,” said Abdulrahman.

NPFL: Kwara United Signs Martins

Kwara United have added to their striking personnel with the signing of youngster, Ossy Eugene Martins, supersport.com can report.

Martins joins the Harmony Boys on a half-season loan deal from neighbours, Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Football Club.

The striker, who has been excellent for ABS this season in the National League, made the switch to United this week and has been unveiled by Kwara United.

The NPFL Mid-Season Review By Numbers


The Nigeria Professional Football League has been ace this 2015 season not necessarily because we are seeing fans return to the various centres across the country, or the number of away wins on show but the fact that there are so many talking points to keep fans on their toes during the hiatus.

After 19 match days, Sunshine Stars lead the pack with 36 points just ahead of a resurgent Enyimba of Aba on goals difference.

Such is the competition this season that just 5 points separate first from fifth while at the rung of the table, bar FC Taraba who are firmly rooted at the bottom, only five points separate 15th placed team from the 19th.

Enugu Rangers 3 Kwara United 2: Antelopes Set Up El Kanemi Quarter Final In Federation Cup


Enugu Rangers defeated Kwara United 3-2 in Abuja on Thursday evening to qualify for the quarter final of the 2015 Federation Cup.

The Flying Antelopes relied on the late minute goal of Emeka Eze to see off the difficult Harmony Warriors in the final match of the Round of 16 after their opponents found their way back into the match despite trailing twice.

Rangers scored first through Rasaq Adegbite in the 11th minute but Kwara United leveled the tie 15 minutes later through Evans Iyoro.

Kwara United Suspends Technical Adviser Tunde Abdulrahman

Kwara United technical adviser Tunde Abdulrahman has been suspended indefinitely by the llorin-based top flight side.

Rhoda Ajiboye, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, announced the indefinite suspension of the former Wikki Tourists gaffer on Monday in llorin after a brief meeting with the management and technical crew of the side.

Supersport.com gathered from an official of the side, Olayinka Owolewa, that Ajiboye asked the chief coach, Tunde Sanni, to take over the affairs of the team.

The Solid Miners lost more ground on the league table after they were held to a 1-1 draw by the Anambra Warriors at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi on Sunday.

Nasarawa United started the game brightly and took the lead through Esosa Igbinoba in the 11th minute but got their joy silence six minutes later through Bright Onyedikachi who equalised for the away team

NPFL: Sharks Can't Hide Says Tunde Abdulrahman

Kwara United technical adviser Tunde Abdulrahman has said there will be no hiding place for the Garden City landlords, Sharks. The Harmony Boys will host bottom placed side Sharks in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match day 17 clash at the Kwara State Stadium in llorin.

Abdulrahman said he hopes to complete a resurgent week on a high note after initial poor run of form.
The former Wikki Tourists gaffer said the side are boosted heading into the clash against Sharks following the the goalless draw at FC Taraba in Makurdi on Saturday and a 5-3 penalties victory against ABU Zaria in the Federation Cup round of 32 in Minna on Wednesday.

Kwara United Players To Get Cash Rain Next Week - Saheed Popoola

Supersport.com can report that players of the Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Kwara United would be paid their sign-on-fees and entitlements for this term next week. Players' mutiny have been looming at the camp of the Afonja Warriors since the approval of their sign-on-fees by the State government with some players threatening to go on industrial action.

Kwara State sports commissioner, Saheed Popoola has now assured that plans are on ground to make sure that United get paid next week.

“Yes, the government has approved the money, but their are some issue on ground delaying the payment as you know that the paper would have to pass through many tables before payment could be made.
