NIGERIA: Aminu Maigari Resigns As NFF President

Embattled leaderAlhaji Aminu Maigari has officially resigned as the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), with effect from August 26, 2014. His Resignation might probably be based on various legal advices who can already foresee that is enemies will definately succeed in removing him. A move of resignation will most likely give him opportunity to claim his entitlements and benefits as a former NFF President.

A letter from the SA Media to the Honourable Minister of Sports, Patrick Omorodion, read: “The Bauchi-born administrator resigned as NFF President on August 12, 2014 to pave way for a peaceful resolution of the crisis that engulfed the football federation shortly after the 2014 FIFA World Cup.”

This new development happens ahead of the NFF Congress, which will be held on Tuesday in Abuja, with the elections to be conducted in two weeks.

Maigari was initially impeached as NFF president, before FIFA’s ban on Nigeria forced his subsequent reinstatement at the Glass House.
