Ethiopian Coach blames Referee for there loss in Calabar

Ethiopia’s coach, Sewnet Bishaw has blamed Gambian referee, Bakary Gassama as one of the reasons why his side capitulated to a 2-0 defeat to Nigeria in Saturday’s 2014 Fifa World Cup playoff at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar. Goals either side of the break from Victor Moses and Victor Obinna sealed Nigeria’s place at next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil. Bishaw who admitted that Nigeria was a superior side however claimed that his side had two penalties on the day which were not awarded by Gasama. Read more after the cut.

“We had goal scoring conditions. The referee denied us two penalties,” Bishaw told supersport.com after the game.
The trainer however praised the Super Eagles for the win which means the African champions will now be competing at the World Cup finals for a fifth time.
“The Nigerians are better than us. They are more experienced than us but the only thing I blame is the referee,” Bishaw said.
He added that profligacy of his players in the first leg in Addis Ababa (Nigeria won that game 2-1) contributed to the eventual outcome of the tie.
“If you don’t take your chances, then you will always lose. That also happened in the game against Nigeria in Calabar (on Saturday).
“We played well and we had good goal scoring opportunities to score but that doesn’t affect our team,” he said.
This is the second time his blaming the Referee for loosing the two leg  matches.
