Despite the amazing return to form of Terry, Roy Hodgson has ruled out recalling former national team captain John Terry despite England’s lack of options at centre-back ahead of the World Cup in Brazil next year. England failed to keep a clean sheet in either of their international friendlies in the past week, losing to both Chile and Germany. The Metro reports that there have been calls from many that the Chelsea captain should return, particularly from former England international Danny Mills.
Speaking after the defeat to Germany, Hodgson said he was not prepared to take a step back to bring back Terry. Hodgson: “We’ve moved on from that. John retired.
“We’ve qualified with our 10 matches and 10 matches with Cahill and Jagielka and we’ve seen a very good performance from Chris Smalling.
“I think it’s important that we continue along those lines, continue looking forward and that we don’t start panicking and looking backwards every time we have a reverse.” No Brazil 2014 for Mr Terry, #pity....
