Senegal defender Cheikhou Kouyate wants team to do the impossible over Ivory Coast

Senegal defender Cheikhou Kouyate echoed coach Alain Giresse’s words on Friday that they would be able to overturn the 3-1 deficit and edge Ivory Coast to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Former Senegal captain El Hadji Diouf has urged the team to forget about the World Cup that they would not be able to surmount the Ivorian hurdle. Many locals are gradually buying the words of the former Liverpool player, but Kouyate is confident the Teranga Lions will level the deficit and pull through.
“We have one more game to play to qualify for the World Cup, and we know it’s not going to be an easy task against a star studded Ivorian team but the importance of the meeting and its impact on our career will push us to do our best to make it happen,” Kouyate said in Casablanca on Friday.
“We still have the chance on our side to mend our poor outcome in the first leg. Everybody in the team is motivated and I can assure you that we will sail through.”
Both sides will face off at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco on Saturday, with Senegal hosting away from home following Fifa / Caf ban on their home ground in Dakar. Match will be played tonight at 8pm Local time.
