He told authoritative British media outfit, Sporting Life that it was only normal for the club to be linked with players with the news that they are on the lookout for a new striker making the headlines.
“Everyone knows if we're in the market for a player, we'll be linked with everybody. We'll deal with that - speculation is speculation,” he said.
It is not uncommon for MLS players to be loaned out to English and other European clubs during the North American off-season, and the fact that the Seattle Sounders attacker played under Allardyce when the two were at Newcastle United between 2007 and 2008 has only further stoked the transfer rumour mill into action.
Allardyce however refused to dignify the rumours as he claimed the club are not poised to make a move for the Nigerian.
"I haven't heard anything about Oba. He's playing in America at the moment," he said.
Martins, who previously played for English clubs, Newcastle and on loan at Birmingham has scored eight league goals in 21 matches for the Sounders since completing his free transfer from Spanish club Levante in March.
