STEPHEN KESHI: Four CHAN Eagles To Make World Cup
Nigeria head coach, Stephen Keshi, has disclosed that four players from the Super Eagles squad that finished third at the 2014 African Nations Championship (Chan) stand chances of being part of the 2014 Fifa World Cup. Keshi is expected to announce his provisional squad for the World Cup in Brazil in a matter days and it is expected that a handful of players from the home front will make the cut.
The Nigerian manager, however, gave the squad members of the Chan recipe on how to stay in shape to win places in the World Cup team. He added that he is looking forward to see at least four members of the squad to the Chan make the final 23 to the World Cup billed to hold in Brazil between June and July this year.
“It will be to my delight if four players from this team we have taken to the Chan can make it to the World Cup in Brazil, but you must be dedicated, respect your club coaches and make discipline your watchword,” he said.
Keshi however singled out Enugu Rangers winger, Ejike Uzoenyi, for rebounding back from a dip in form to be named the Most Valuable Player of the 2014 Chan.
The Big Boss, as Keshi is fondly called, also reserved glorifying words for his assistants and backroom staff after the Chan.
“From (Daniel) Amokachi to (Ike) Shorunmu and Coach Valere (Houandinou), we spent hours together after dinner or games just strategizing and most times I come out to speak but they have been too supportive and I want to thank them,” said Keshi.
