Bayelsa United surmounted the scare of Nasarawa United as they beat the visitors 3-1 in a hotly contested Glo Premier League tie at the Sapele Township Stadium on Thursday evening.
Bernard Okorowanta had got the Restoration Boys' curtain raiser in the 50th minute but Esosa Igbinoba levelled for the Solid Miners ten minutes from full time.
Bayelsa United didn't relent despite Nasarawa United's late equaliser and their effort paid off in the 89th minute when Salomon Junior put the home team ahead again from the penalty spot.
There was still enough time for a third through Eric Frimpong in the 90th minute to make it a comfortable win for the Yenagoa side.
They are still unbeaten after three games with seven points out of a possible nine. They still have an outstanding match versus Kaduna United slated for next Wednesday.
Bayelsa United are the only remaining Nigerian club on the continent after the other three -Enyimba, Warri Wolves and Kano Pillars - were all shown the exit doors earlier on in the campaign.
The Restoration Boys are only two matches away from the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup. They have been drawn to face Sewe Sports of Ivory Coast in the play off round.
