A hat-trick from Diego Costa inspired Chelsea to a 4-2 comeback win over Swansea and sent the Blues clear at the top of the table. The striker's tally of seven goals in four Premier League games is a record for a newcomer to the division.
The connection between Spain internationals Costa and Cesc Fàbregas - who bagged two assists - was once again on song and proved too much for the Welsh side, who travelled to London level on points with José Mourinho's team and went ahead through John Terry's own goal.
After that, Costa took over. To begin with, the ex-Atlético marksman drew what had been a topsy-turvy game level on the stroke of half-time, guiding home a Fàbregas corner with his head.
Ten minutes after the break, Fàbregas was in the thick of the action again, playing a delightful one-two with Eden Hazard and then feeding Costa, who swept high into the net past Lukasz Fabianski.
The Brazil-born sharpshooter, already the toast of the town at Stamford Bridge, completed his hat-trick and made sure of the points in the 67th minute, applying the finishing touch with aplomb after latching on to Ramires's scuffed shot from outside the box.
Costa was greeted with a roaring ovation by the fans when withdrawn by Chelsea boss José Mourinho five minutes later, as was Fàbregas when taken off shortly afterwards. There was still time for Loic Remy to nab a debut goal for the hosts and for Jonjo Shelvey to register a late consolation effort for the visitors.
