Nigeria: Super Falcon Left-Back Happy With Successful Surgery

Former U-20 captain and Super Falcons left back Gloria Ofoegbu has had a successful injury after being helped by an unnamed Nigerian came to her aid. According to reports she picked up the injury while on international duty. Pleas were made to the NFF to help her foot the bill but it all fell on deaf hears. Its clear that her club Rivers Angels can't foot the bill as we all know the state of football clubs in Nigeria.

The left back is glad to have had a successful surgery in Lagos and she's grateful to the good samaritan that paid the bill. One will be tempted to ask the administrative department about how long heroes will be abandoned in this country?

Super Falcons left back, Gloria Ofoegbu has said she is keenly looking forward to returning to active football in the very shortest time.

The Rivers Angels overlapping strongwoman just had a successful corrective knee surgery in Lagos last month.

The former Nasarawa Amazons wing back picked the nagging knee injury at the 2014 African Women Championship (AWC) in Namibia.

Ofoegbu said she has already started rehabilitation preparatory for her imminent return to the pitch next March.

“Yea, the knee surgery has been done and it’s quite successful already I have started my rehabilitation hopeful to re-launch my career in a big way latest next March.

“I’m happy and keenly looking forward to my return to the pitch to start doing what I know how best to do it,” said Ofoegbu to supersport.com.

Ofoegbu disclosed that a good Nigerian helped her to foot the whole bill for the corrective knee surgery.

“No, a man (named withheld) helped me with the cost of the entire surgery. The man who must have read a lot and the back and forward argument over my troubled injury graciously offered to help me out.

“The man directed me to see some doctors in Lagos who actually came from the United Kingdom to perform the operation.

“He took care of the entire cost including other sundry expenses and I’m really grateful to him for stepping out to save my life as well as career,” said the former Falconets defender.

The operation was successfully performed on Thursday, November 26 in Lagos.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been hesitant in picking the surgery bill as they claimed the player sustained the knee injury in her club’s assignment and not in at the Super Falcons’ AWC duty in Namibia.
