Ogenyi Onazi scored for SS Lazio in Thursday’s 3-2 Uefa Europa League win over Saint-Étienne.
Saint-Étienne took the lead in the 22nd minute of the contest decided at Stadio Olimpico.

The Nigerian midfielder finished well; rifling home a low half-volley into the bottom-left corner past the Saint-Étienne goalkeeper, Stephane Ruffier.

Onazi was a bundle of activity all night and was booked by Turkish referee, Halis Özkahya in the 25th minute.

Onazi Ogenyi Happy With Man Of The Match Award Against Dnipro

Nigeria international Ogenyi Onazi has told AfricanFootball.com he was delighted to be named man of the match in Lazio's 1-1 draw at Dnipro.

Onazi said he knew it was going to be a tough game at Dnipro, who were runners-up in last year's Europa League.

Balogun Happy With Victory Against Lazio

Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, has described Mainz’s 3-0 win against SS Lazio in a pre-season game on Wednesday, as a good test for the team ahead of the new Bundesliga season.

Balogun who joined Mainz from newly promoted SV Darmstadt 98 this summer, was on from the start before making way for Henrique Sereno in the 77th minute.

Reacting to the win, Balogun, also praised his team for putting up a good display against the Serie A side.

Nigeria midfielder Ogenyi Onazi could face a lengthy spell of at least eight weeks on the sideline following an injury he suffered in Monday's game against France at the Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

The Lazio midfielder broke his tibia and fibula from the horror tackle of France midfielder, Blaise Matuidi in a second-round match which Nigeria lost two-nil.

There has been no official word from the Nigerian camp as they left Brazil on Tuesday, a day after they were eliminated from the World Cup by Les Bleus of France.

One of the biggest football stories of the week has been the age of Lazio’s new signing Joseph Minala, as many have questioned that the Cameroonian midfielder is actually 17 as he looks like more 40.

Furious at the abuse he was receiving, Joseph Minala hit back at his haters this week with an angry message of Twitter, while the teenager shut down his Facebook page and turned his Instagram account private.

Now Minala’s agent Diego Tavano has spoken to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport in an attempt to clear up the confusion once and for all as Tavano explained his player looks older than his age because of a ”difficult childhood”.
