Pique Breaks Silence, Calls Press Conference

Spanish defender Gerard Pique has called a press conference in an attempt to break his silence over the recent jeers and boos he has suffered from fans and the late lash he just got from Sergio Ramos.

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has called an impromptu press conference for Thursday at which he is expected to break his silence on being booed by Spain fans last weekend.

The defender was subjected to jeers by a certain section of the home fans every time he touched the ball in Saturday's Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovakia in Oviedo, while he was also castigated in the media for being photographed emerging from a nightclub in the early hours of the following morning.

Spain: Ramos Hits Out At Pique

Ramos has taken a jibe at Pique by calling out at the Barcelona defender asking him to take some blames for his past actions. Ramos thinks that the boos and jeers that Pique has found himself in is as a result of some needless speeches.

Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos believes Gerard Pique should take part of the blame for the frosty reception he received during Spain's 2-0 Euro 2016 qualification win over Slovakia at the weekend.

This coming Monday will see Sergio Ramos put pen to paper on an improved and extended contract at Real Madrid, running until 30th June 2020, at a ceremony at the Bernabéu.

The 'Los Blancos' captain, whose current deal at the club expires in June 2017, is set to ramp up his wages to €9 million a year plus bonuses.

The terms were thrashed out during Real Madrid's tour of China, where an eagerly awaited meeting took place between club president Florentino Pérez, CEO José Ángel Sánchez, the centre-back and his brother René, who is also his agent.

Ramos has got exactly what he wanted: a new deal which takes him a step closer to staying at Real Madrid until he hangs up his boots. Of course, the Spanish defender has also been given a pay rise, but that wage falls short of Manchester United's offer. Ramos is missing out on money by staying at the Bernabéu, but is much happier after receiving the acknowledgment he craved.

Many will accuse him of penny-pinching and will say that he got his way, but Ramos will sign his new deal with a clear conscience. He did not blackmail the club, neither did he toy with Manchester United, like they are saying in England. Both Sergio and his brother René have always been very up front, speaking honestly and telling Real Madrid exactly what they wanted.

Dani Carvajal believes Sergio Ramos has all the right attributes to replace Iker Casillas as Real Madrid captain.

The veteran goalkeeper left Madrid for Porto earlier this month and as the longest-serving Madrid player left, Ramos is expected to take over the captaincy.

United have already offered 45 million euros for Ramos and AS suggest that the Premier League giants are now preparing a 60 million euro offer.
