Joseph Yobo Not Good Enough For Arsenal - Martin Keown

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has passed a damning verdict on former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo who is rumoured to be on the watch list of the Gunners who are looking for defensive cover in their team owing to early injury problems. Aside Yobo, former West Brom player Diego Lugano is also said to be targeted but for Keown neither Yobo  nor Lugano is good enough for the North London club.

‘With injuries, Arsene Wenger may have to get imaginative with his signings, but I’m not convinced Diego Lugano or Joseph Yobo would offer much’, he told the Daily Mail. ‘

Keown faulted the arguments of many who believe the  EPL experience under the belt of the two players is enough for them to function well at the backline of the Gunners.

“Both are coming to the end of their careers and neither was too impressive at the World Cup” Keown posited.

It is yet to be seen if Wenger will make do with what he has, look elsewhere for player s or give either Yobo or Lugano the chance of donning the Arsenal jersey.

At 34, reports  suggest Yobo is more favourably disposed to a move to the Middle East to cash in on some petrol dollars before quitting the scene.
