NIGERIA vs MEXICO: All You Need To Know

Mexico and Nigeria have met four times at full international levels.
The first clash occurred on Friday January 13, 1995 at the King Fahd Stadium in Saudi Arabia on the ocassion of the Intercontinental Cup.The game ended 1-1 with Ramon Ramirez scoring for the Mexicans on 21 minutes while Daniel Amokachi (now an assistant coach with the Eagles) got the equalizer in the 32nd minute.

Just over five months later, on June 24, 1995 , Mexico overcame Nigeria by two goals to one in the context of the USA Cup. Misael Espinoza and Alberto Garcia Aspe scored for the Mexicans while Jonathan Akpoborie pulled by one back for Nigeria.


The other two matches were friendlies,the first on October 14,2007 with a 2-2 scoreline. Juan Carlos Cacho scored twice for the Mexicans while Obafemi Martins also scored a brace for Nigeria.

The second friendly game took place only last year,precisely on Friday May 31,2013 at the Reliant stadium in Houston.It also ended 2-2 with Manchester United's Javier Hernandez scoring twice while Brown Ideye and John Ogu scored for the Eagles.

Both teams will be competing at the Fifa World Cup in June.

Mexico are ranked 21st in the world by Fifa while Nigeria are ranked in 47th place.
