Former Super Eagles striker Bartholomew Ogbeche hit the brace for SC Cambuur in their Eredivisie game against NEC Nijmegen on Saturday as they cruised to a 3-1 win in the league.
The 31-year-old forward scored a goal in each half at the Cambuur Stadion in a contest that ebbed and flowed.
Ogbeche's first attempt at goal came in the 17th minute when he fired right-footed from outside of the box into the top centre of goal. His effort forced a save off NEC goalkeeper Marco van Duin.
Three minutes later, the Nigerian opened the scoring. This time he struck left-footed from close range via Marvin Peersman's assist with van Duin well-beaten.
Ogbeche's goal lasted only four minutes as NEC fought back to 1-1 when the Nigerian's teammate Xander Houtkoop scored an own goal.
Just before the break, Ogbeche attempted to force the issue with an attempt at goal. The shot of the striker was blocked.
Four minutes into the restart, NEC had no chance of blocking Ogbeche's shot. The striker right-footed past van Duin from close range with Houtkoop providing the assist to make up amends for his own goal in the first 45 minutes.
Cambuur's third goal was scored by NEC's Venezuelan midfielder in the 66th minute.
If Houtkoop had scored three minutes later, Ogbeche would have added an assist to his brace of goals in the match.
There was no further chance for Ogbeche to attempt a hat-trick but the goals against NEC meant the Nigerian has taken his goals tally in the Dutch top-flight to seven this term in 13 appearances.
