FERNANDINHO: We Want To Win Capital One Trophy For Manuel Pellegrini

Fernandinho wants to win the Capital One Cup so that Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini can end his decade-long trophy drought.

City take on Sunderland at Wembley on Sunday and both the Brazil international and the Chilean manager could collect their first silverware at the club with a victory. But whereas Fernandinho won 14 trophies during his eight years at Shakhtar Donetsk, Pellegrini has not won anything since his Villarreal team triumphed in the Intertoto Cup in 2004.

"We have a good relationship so personally I want to win this title for [Pellegrini] as well," the midfielder said.

"The manager is calm, he is quiet. He is a very good person. He knows the way to do everything in the week, the training, the game as well. He knows that. He knows the players he has."

City are still fighting on four fronts this season, and the 28-year-old midfielder believes his teammates have the spirit to keep battling for trophies.

"For us it will represent a very good season to win the next title, the Capital One Cup, and to try to do our best in the Champions League against Barcelona," he continued.

"We will see what happens there and try to win the FA Cup as well and fight until the end in the Premier League. If you win or not, the most important thing is you have the spirit to keep fighting until the end."
