Chinedu Obasi Scores For Schalke 04

Nigeria’s Chinedu Obasi was on target for Schalke 04 in their 2-0 defeat of Hertha Berlin in the German topflight at the Veltins-Arena on Friday night.

His right footed shot from a difficult angle on the right to the bottom right corner courtesy of an assist from Joel Matip put his side ahead in the 16th minute of the highly entertaining encounter.

Throughout the first half, Obasi was a thorn in the flesh of Hertha Berlin back line as his attacking moves tormented their defenders.

With just 28 seconds into the second half, the former Lyn Oslo player provided an assist for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar who doubled the lead for the home side with a left footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner.

The 27-year old Nigerian was replaced by Anthony Annan in the 83rd minute and got a standing ovation from the Die Königsblauen  fans.

Schalke 04 are placed second on the Bundesliga table with 54points from 28 matches.
