YOBO LANDLORD SAGA: Yobo Brothers Blasts Landlord

Gideon Yobo, brother of Super Eagles star Joseph Yobo, has hit back at Ray Smith over claims of a wrecked apartment, saying the Liverpool landlord only sought "cheap" publicity.

Smith has claimed he was horrified when he saw the state in which a penthouse flat leased in his name had been left.

Smith has been widely quoted as saying there were burnt marks on the carpet, a dirty kitchen and bathroom, and holes in the wall left from a flat-screen television.

The Liverpool landlord has also tried to drag his older brother into the misunderstanding, but Gideon said he was the one who lived in the apartment in South Ferry Quay, close to Liverpool Marina, paid the rent and should have been approached directly.

He said: "Joseph left England in 2010 and cannot be held responsible for this misunderstanding.

"Mr Smith is only seeking attention and cheap publicity because Joseph is a premier league footballer.

"He is only trying to get himself into the spotlight by using my brother's name. That is a negative motive and totally unacceptable.”

Landlord Ray Smith had said he was shocked by what he found when he went to inspect the flat, but Gideon has insisted any misgivings by the landlord should have been channelled through the letting agent.

"I take full responsibility for this misunderstanding and I feel bad that he's dragging my innocent brother into this situation," he added.
