WORLD CUP: Former Eagles Star Adokiye Amiesimaka Predicts Downfall For Nigeria Ahead Of France Encounter

For the first time in World Cup history, two African nations have progressed to the round of 16 from the group stages. Ghana, Cameroon and the Ivory Coast were the unfortunate trio that fell at the first hurdle.

Nigeria will meet France in Brasilia in their round of 16 clash as they look to make it into the last eight of the World Cup for the very first time. Preparations by the Nigeria squad for the game against France could not have gone any worse as the team failed to train on Thursday.

A row over appearance bonuses put paid to that with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) promptly dispatching General Secretary, Musa Amadu back to Nigeria to “get more money.”

It represents a farce ahead of Nigeria’s biggest game in 16 years according to former international, Adokiye Amiesimaka.

“The whole thing sounds like a joke. It’s a shame the NFF never seems to get anything right on matters like this. This is happening because we don’t put pressure on those that represent us to comport themselves and conduct themselves appropriately,” Amiesimaka, popularly known as the Chief Justice of Nigerian football, exclusively told supersport.com.

Ghana and Cameroon also had to deal with similar situations and Amiesimaka believes Nigeria will likely fall into the pitfall of both countries whose national teams crashed out early in Brazil.

“We all saw what happened to Ghana and Cameroon and I am afraid we may suffer the same fate as a result of this sad development.

“We do not even have an exceptional team yet players do not train before such an important game, but can one really blame the players?

“You have to understand the players’ perspective. If they don’t get the money now, they may never get it again.

“The NFF officials are only thinking of themselves and what they are going to get. It’s everyone for himself.

“It’s just a vicious cycle and it’s sad that all these are happening just a few days before we play against France,” he said.
