Uruguay is a country in a state of shock for their martyred comrade Luis Suarez. Convinced there’s a conspiracy against them, concocted by the English press, the entire nation of Uruguay has put itself behind ‘Luisito’ Suarez, backing him to the hilt over his ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini.

On Thursday night, a huge crowd gathered at Montevideo Airport to welcome their hero home into their safe arms, putting on an amazing display of solidarity and fervor.


Suarez never actually arrived into Montevideo, returning home via a detour, probably to avoid the mad scene that his arrival would have provoked.

But that didn’t deter the gathered fans, who chanted and sang long into the night for Luisito.
Interviewed by the Telegraph, the fans spoke proudly of their support for Suarez – ‘He is Uruguay’, and blamed it all on the English media.
