Emmanuel Adebayor has been welcomed in from the cold after his exile under Andre Villas-Boas. Tottenham’s stand-in boss Tim Sherwood made bringing Adebayor back into the squad one of his first jobs after taking over the reigns from the sacked AVB this week. Read more after the cut......
Adebayor could now even start Wednesday’s Capital One Cup tie with West Ham, as Sherwood’s intention is to bring the striker up to speed to be in the Londoners' first XI against Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.
It is a remarkable turnaround for Adebayor, who was frozen out under Villas-Boas - one of the biggest obstacles in the Poruguese manager's strained relationship with chairman Daniel Levy.
It frustrated Levy that Adebayor, who was on £190,000-a-week, wasn’t even in the first team set-up.
The Togo striker was made to train with the kids, and his only appearance so far this season came as a half-time substitute in the 6-0 mauling by his former club Manchester City.
Adebayor apologised to Spurs fans on Tuesday after tweeting a picture of himself and Benoit Assou-Ekotto, another player to have fallen out with AVB and now on loan at QPR, smiling and displaying a combined five fingers following the 5-0 drubbing by Liverpool on Sunday that ended Villas-Boas' reign.
Now Adebayor has tweeted: “I apologise to all Spurs fans who thought from the Assou-Ekotto picture that we were making fun out of the defeat.
What a game tonight....happy to see my man @E_Adebayor (LOL)

“That picture was taken BEFORE the game. I couldn’t possibly known the score. I would NEVER DO THAT. That pose is how I pose in all my pictures...”
Adebayor, who has been behind Jermain Defoe and new signing Roberto Soldado, refused a move to German side Schalke last summer as he did not want to cost himself a big “loyalty” bonus from Tottenham.
The stand-off between player and manager was a big issue for Levy, and now Sherwood - who is hoping to win the job permanently - has moved swiftly to bring back Adebayor back into the fold.
The former Arsenal striker understandably lacks match sharpness but is keen to be given another chance.
