NIGERIA SPORTS: NSC budgets N5.55bn for 2014


The National Sports Commission (NSC), has set aside N5.546 billion as budgetary allocation for the 2014 fiscal year, allocating N1.196 billion as total personnel, N 2.922 billion as total overhead, N4.118 billion as total recurrent, and N1.428 billion as total capital amounting to N5.546 billion.

According to the Annual Budget, the commission sent to the Budget Office made available to our correspondent in Abuja, the Sports Ministry equally earmarked the sum of N7.110 million for honorarium, sitting allowance, refreshment and meals.

A further breakdown of the commission’s annual expenditure revealed that the Sports Ministry earmarked a total sum of N100.612 million for travel and transport generally, stressing that while local travel and transport for trainings would take N11.659 million, other local travel and transport would gulp N26.089 million.


Giving a further breakdown of its travelling this year in the annual expenditure, the commission’s document revealed that international travel and transport for trainings would take N51.952 million, while other international travel and transport would take N10.912 million, totalling N100.612 million.

The commission further revealed that it would expend N134.394 million on allowances and social contributions, with allowances and non-regular allowances N1.680 million each, while social contributions would gulp the larger chunk of N132.714 million.

A further breakdown of the annual expenditure revealed that fuel and lubricants would generally gulp the sum of N21.605 million with motor vehicle fuel costing N4.256 million, while the fuelling of other transport equipment and plant/generator would cost N222,202 and N17.127 million respectively.

The annual budget proposal further disclosed that while the sports commission would expend the sum of N77.409 million on the general supply of materials with office stationeries/computer consumables gulping N37.845 million, books would take N714,222.

Further breakdown revealed that printing of non-security documents and security documents would cost the commission total sum of N5.875 million and N991,975 respectively this year.
