Arsenal’s hopes of winning the Premier League have been further dented by the news Mesut Ozil will miss ‘a few weeks’ with a serious hamstring injury.
The Gunners star, who was signed in the summer from Real Madrid for £42.5million, has struggled for form in the second-half of the season, but a bright display against Everton in the FA Cup had boosted his spirits.
Ozil, 25, though, was substituted at half-time of Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, which ended in a 1-1 draw on the night and a 3-1 defeat on aggregate.
And he will now definitely miss the Gunners’ clash with rivals Tottenham Hotspur, and possibly several other matches as they attempt to win the Premier League ahead of Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool.
"[Mesut Ozil] has a hamstring problem that looks quite serious," Wenger said.
"I don't know [how long he will be out for], but for sure he is out [of the Tottenham game on Sunday].
"We have to make a scan tomorrow to see how bad it is but he's out for at least a few weeks. I hope it's not too bad."
