Bayelsa United Progress In CAF Champions League After Beating AS Kondzo Of Congo

Nigeria’s Bayelsa United defeated AS Kondzo of Congo 2-0 in the second leg first round tie of the Caf Confederations Cup played on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Peter Ebimobowei and Jafar Buhari were all the Richard Bubagha’s side needed to qualify 2-0 on aggregate to secure a second round ticket in the competition after the first leg ended 0-0 in Brazzaville.

The game played at the Sapele Stadium saw the hosts take the lead in the 23rd minute through Peter Ebimobowei after mounting pressure on AS Kondzo’s backline. Goalkeeper Gambo Gideon was at his best as he halted all attempts from the visitors to get the equalizer.

Jafar Buhari got the second goal for the Restoration boys in the 56th minute to put the game beyond the reach of the Congolese side that looked desperate in search of goals.
