Andre Schurrle ended Jose Mourinho's scoring troubles with a brilliant hat-trick to send Chelsea four points clear at the top of the Premier League.
The German international provided three smart finishes to good Chelsea team moves to extend the gap at the top to four points over Arsenal, who lost at Stoke 1-0. A lack of goals for the title chasers had dominated the build up this week, but the German winger showed his poise in front of goal, scoring twice with his weaker left foot.
An even first half had produced little in the way of goalscoring opportunities at either end, with Fernando Torres seeing the best of ours well saved by Maarten Stekelenburg just before the break.
An improvement in the second half, with Chelsea`s attacking players able to influence the game, provided a platform for Chelsea`s quality to shine through, and Schurrle's first hat-trick for the club ultimately proved the difference between the sides.
Fulham defender John Heitinga scored a consolation for the hosts but Felix Magath's team stay rooted to the foot of the table.
